History
On April 17, 2006, the Charlie Riley Community Service Scholarship Foundation held it's first informational meeting. Attendees received information referencing the origin, purpose, structure and vision of the Foundation. On April 25, 2006, the Foundation Board of Directors held it's first official meeting at the home of Chip Riley.
Topics of conversation included by-law development, establishment of committees, information pamphlet design and logo design. A decision was made to hold an awards banquet in the fall of 2006. On November 14, 2006, the first annual awards banquet was held at the Level VFC banquet hall. Fifteen nominees were present representing the high schools and fire companies. Hope Greenleaf from Aberdeen HS and Sandra Gallion from Level VFC were each awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Foundation. All other nominees were given a $250 scholarship.
On November 13, 2007, the second annual awards banquet was held. Seventeen nominees were presented scholarships of $500 each. Lyndsay Ames and Tracy Talany were selected as the overall winners.
On November 11, 2008, the third annual awards banquet was held. Twenty-two nominees were presented scholarships of $750 each. Nicole Jomidad and Viona Miller were selected as the overall winners. They each received an additional $1,750.
The Foundation continues to meet 2-3 times monthly to carry out its mission. Please feel free to contact any of the Board members if you have questions regarding any aspect of the Foundation.
